Hi there. Today, we are going to talk on the easy way to install and upgrade your vista or XP into windows 7 with few simple, easy to follow instructions. So, are your ready?
First, you have two different ways to install the new operating system which are, reboot your PC using the bootable Windows 7 upgrade DVD, or second choice is to insert the DVD while you are still running the current version of Windows and start from there. Here are the step by step guides but it might be different based on how you start the installation.. Continue reading..
1. On the beginning, the wizard window will ask either you want to check for the compatibility online or just go ahead and install. If you wish to view the compatibility first, it will bring you to the Web Page of Microsoft Upgrade advisor. For this guide, we select and click on Install Now button.
2. After agreeing on the End-User agreement, you have two selections: a) Upgrade b) Custom (clean) Install. Pick either one.
3. Then, the wizard will go ahead and let you select the partition (which drive to install on, e.g. C:/ ). If you wish to install the new OS on your current OS, pick drive C. But if you are looking to run a multiboot system, which means running two or more OS in your PC, you can choose other drives or do partitioning of your C drive early on, before this process.
4. For choosing Upgrade install in step 2, you will receive a compatibility report. It warns you about certain issues (such as Windows Mail is not included in this new OS). The report also may state that you need to cancel and uninstall a particular, problematic applications or driver, and it is best to obey the warning.
5. If you choose on doing Custom installation on step 2, a warning box will pop out and states that you are about to lose your existing version of windows. Actually, you are not if you have your image backup. The warning also mentions that, by moving your files into a new folder called C:/Windows/old. Now, when the installation is ready to run and loading screen appears, just take that wasted time to do something else. The installation might take few hours or less.
6. You don’t have to enter the Product Key when prompted although you have to insert it eventually. If you click next by leaving the product key field blank, and then click No, the installation process will still continue. You can always verify and enter the Product Key after the installation finishes or when your new OS is running successfully.
It seems that we are almost done for this simple guide of upgrading vista or XP into windows 7,the easy way. Thanks. Good luck fellas..
